The client is a University based on the south coast of the UK. They have extensive accommodation provisions for their students and several specialist research facilities with secure and sensitive content. The estate's total value is over £500m, with over 10,000 daily users of the various sites.
The Brief
Security service for the entire estate supporting the in-house university staff.
Mobile patrols, alarm and incident response.
Act as the face of the University for service users.
Consult and advise on ongoing security response and strategic security measures.
Provide security and initial welfare support for the accommodation based on the estate (over 1500 beds).
Provide Close Protection for VIPs visiting events, including members of parliament.
Reduce costs from the previous supplier.
Act as a catch-all for ad hoc tasks; this increased significantly during the various COVID and Tier lockdowns.
The Challenge
Universities cater for a broad range of needs across vast areas of their estates.
Due to their wide range of roles, the operatives NGS supply have to undertake significant training levels. There is also a considerable variance in the required staffing levels needed for different events and times during the academic calendar. Service users vary from students to VIPs to University Staff.
Building a service offering that caters for so many needs is challenging, but one that we have the right processes in place to fulfil.
The Outcome
NGS implemented a robust management system within the team we provided, coupled with extensive in-person training and externally examined and certified courses. This allows us to deliver a very efficient and adaptable team to the University.
Because of the use of technology in ongoing operational delivery, we can provide this solution very cost-effectively, resulting in a 20% saving on previous services provided by alternative means.
