We provide a range of services to a Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) site with very high standards.

The Brief

  • Provide a security concierge for out-of-hours service at the front desk.

  • Provide a cleaning service to an excellent standard across the site.

  • Improve the skills and services available from the concierge.

The Client

  • Site is located in Egham, Surrey

  • 499 Rooms/Studio flats

  • Gym

  • Car parking controlled by a barrier gate

  • Large outside areas

  • Central communal building

  • 24-hour reception desk

The Challenge

Previously there had been two cleaning staff during the day and two security staff for the night shift. The quality of the previous company's service via the security staff was not in line with the standard required from the service users.

There was a requirement to reduce costs for the service while providing a better quality of operational staff.

The Outcome

NGS combined both services, so instead of having one cleaning supplier and one security provider, the client could just be serviced by NGS. This reduced the administration costs for the site allowing NGS to offer services at a lower price than previously.

In addition to the above, one of the cleaners was retrained and moved to a night Security Cleaner position. This allowed the second security operative to be removed.

Staff who were TUPE underwent the training and development required by all NGS operatives.

Security provision to deal with any requirements remained at two operatives whilst the total number of cleaning hours across the site increased by 18 hours a week whilst also increasing the percentage of the days covered from 30% to 66%. NGS Security also ensured that the site was always kept to a much higher standard of cleanliness.

The Benefits to the Client 

  • With the security cleaner and security concierge operating at night, NGS Security improved security service standards. The operatives provided for this have extensive training, with over 26 externally assessed training courses being given to all NGS operatives.

  • Cleaning standards across the site were improved significantly as there was now a cleaner on site for 16 hours a day to deal with any requirements.

  • The total cost reduction on the combined service was 36%.

  • Multi-skilled staff meant that additional ad hoc duties required from the client could be assigned at short notice.
